We flew out at 6:30am on lovely Southwest Airlines. Masks required except for children, and miniature bison and brontosaurus, Brigid and Brad.
There’s no alcohol served in flight so they were a little unhappy with just water! Brad does love his morning cocktail.
What’s special about this photo is not the geese it’s the smoke. This is in Denver where the wildfires are causing such a problem. There’s smoke so thick you can’t see the mountains. You can see how close it came to the road in the photo below.
This is a section of I 70 going to Glenwood Springs. Many of the roads have been closed and only one side of interstate was open today. .
Brian joined us for the first leg of our adventure. He and Lynn soak their feet in Clear Creek. Clear Creek Canyon Road goes through Golden and has some breathtaking scenery.
The aspens are starting to turn a bright yellow.

We ended our day at the historic Glenwood Springs Resort. It was founded in 1888 and I’ll put more about it in a separate blog. This photo is the cooler of the two pools. The other one has temperatures of 104 degrees and they caution you to only stay 5-10 minutes.
We walked across a bridge to the restaurant district and this is a view of the pools at night. Quiet a first day. Wish I had room to show all the photos but….
Tomorrow it’s off to Moab Utah and Arches National Park. We have four nights there. Last time we were there we really only had one day to explore. That didn’t even get us started.
