Light painting has always fascinated me. As I sat on the balcony of the condo last night in Gulf Shores, I watched people with their flashlights walking the beach. From my viewpoint, all I could see were the moving lights. It reminded me of a scene from a Disney Fantasia-like movie. My granddaughter Tristan and I walked the beach with our flashlight and camera. I could take “dancing light” photos forever!
We are sometimes sooo smart. We booked a later flight and got a late checkout so we could take our time. We just got back from touring Temple Square. We learned that there were three main buildings, the Temple that is off limits to non Mormons. Then there is the tabernacle where the music is, and there is the church where all can worship. We were guided by two sweet “sisters”. One from Taiwan and the other from Tahiti. They were here serving for eighteen months. It’s freezing here this morning and we understand Nashville has rough storms. Heading home anyway. Ready to see the families and get back to our daily routines….until the next adventure. Until then Thelma and Louise are signing off. Hope you enjoyed our adventure.
Cell signal iffy, wifi iffy, scenery always spectacular! Ok we are behind again so it’s catch up time. We left Boulder on Wednesday down scenic highway 12 to highway 24. We ventured down Long Canyon Road to find a slot canyon. All the other slot canyons require a strenuous hike and even climbing gear. This one worked for me, short walk not lots of climbing. From there to Capitol Reef where there was a little community of sorts. It was settled by Mormons and known for the fine orchards that are still in operation. The Gifford House serves wonderful pies and scones. Capitol Reef was not established as a national park until 1971.
Then on to Moab. The trip took us over a 9600 ft. Summit with a little snow and gorgeous aspens. We took a detour (imagine that) through Goblin Valley
State Park. What a cool place. Talk about nature as art. These little guys all had names after we left. We got to Moab around 4:30. Checked in to our glam ping and went to town for dinner. I have never stayed in a tent so….
Ok the goblin that looks like ET got out of place, but you can see the view from our tent and the luxury we have. I like this camping! Did I mention I am doing this blog from the Peace Tree restaurant because we have no wifi or electricity in the tents!
Zentoni Number Seven
It’s said that the eyes are the windows to the soul. Again, focus. Look at this drawing and you will see the world moving around us. People are talking, horns are blowing, so many sparks of energy going this way and that. Do we stop to look into someone’s eyes when they talk to us? Do we ever stop to look into our own eyes? I don’t know where I first heard or read of this exercise, but looking into the mirror and gazing into your own eyes is quite an experience! It is the first step to loving yourself. And I don’t mean in a narcissistic way. We spend all our time trying to fixing things, making sure no one gets their feelings hurt. We go out of our way to care for someone else. That’s not a bad thing, but there has to be some balance. So today, look in the mirror, and not just at the lines on your face or the imperfect nose, but at your eyes. Look INTO your soul. Spend one minute, sixty seconds and go deep inside of you. Tell YOU how much you love YOU. Feel the shift inside your heart as you connect with your soul. Just think how great you will feel if you do this every day!
HAVE A BEAUTIFUL AND JOYFUL DAY
Zentoni number six went back to black and white. This one has a focus. There was a point where it all started. Its life began. It is the heart of the drawing although it doesn’t look like a heart in the traditional sense. Look for it. Focus your intention on the drawing and see if you can find or feel the heart point. It’s a lot like life. Through all the chaos and noise that surrounds us, if we just take a moment to breathe and focus, we can always find our heart, our center. The heart will take us to that space where we are grounded and calm. It is our connection to that higher self that is sometimes overshadowed by our ego. Today, take a moment to drop into your heart center and feel the love and peace that is there always. Namaste.
Zentoni five changed color again! I used the brown fine point Sharpie on this one. Notice this piece has a border. I started with that thought in mind. Confine the piece. Put all the squiggles and lines INSIDE the rectangle. Keep it contained. Is that what we tend to do to ourselves sometimes? We confine ourselves, limit ourselves to our so called comfort zone. We suddenly find that thoughts inside our bubble become crowded and chaotic. It’s hard to make any sense out of it. Today, try expanding beyond those limited thoughts and beliefs. Get out of your box! See what magic there is beyond those borders.
Miriam Webster defines the circle as a closed plane curve every point of which is equidistant from a fixed point within the curve. In sacred geometry the circle represents the spiritual realms.
Circles commonly represent unity, wholeness, and infinity. Without beginning or end, without sides or corners, the circle is also associated with the number one. Circles are often seen as protective symbols. Standing within a circle shields a person from supernatural dangers or influences outside of the circle. Conversely, a circle can also be containing, keeping that which is inside from been released. http://altreligion.about.com/od/symbols/ig/Geometric-Shapes/Circles.htm
Zentoni Number Four is about connection. It’s about the collective consciousness of this universe. The circles represent all of humanity and all beings from all worlds and how we are interlocked with one another. If we realize that every person, every living cell is connected to us, it might just change how we choose to treat others. If we throw a pebble into the pond, it causes a ripple, sending out a reaction to the entire body of water that is connected to that one little spot where your pebble made its splash. If you treat your fellow beings with love, it will travel out from you to the next being and so on for ever. Each day, be more conscious of your words and your actions. Remember that what you say and do goes out into the pond of the universe, and as circles do, will eventually find its way back to you.
