I was walking the beach this morning and a larger shell caught my eye. I walked over to it and you can imagine my surprise when I got close. I have heard of message in a bottle but never seen message in a shell. I made a photo and left it there for the next person to read. I always wonder where things come from, where they have been, and why I happen upon them when I do. Interesting!
personal thoughts
We came out of the resort restaurant Monday night and the ocean was this beautiful pink! The sun sets around 8:30 in Myrtle Beach. Of course the beach faces the east. I had my phone and snapped these photos. They were not altered in any way! I took the elevator to our condo on the 17th floor and looked out to the west. This glorious fireball sun was behind the clouds. Quite a contrast from the soft, silky pink on the other side.
I should note that the pink sea photos were taken at 8:36 and 8:37, and the fireball sun was taken at 8:41 pm.

High above the land
Tiny ants in the sand
No interaction, only observation.
Where do they come from
Where will they go
I don’t know
Make no assumptions, only observation.
He did this, she does that
THEY made me….
Don’t take it personally, only observation.
High above the land, ants in the sand.

Today we worked on glow in the dark rocks. Pretty cool art. Robin bought the glowin the dark paint and Ashley fished rocks from Newfound Gap. Deliah painted and they turned out great. Then we had activities and all worked on collage. Robin created her first artist trading card. Again we had a wonderfully creative day. The Smoky Mountain muse was generous once more.
Yesterday was a day of celebration. Not only was it Independence Day, it was Ashley’s birthday. Deliah and I went through our mystery rock bucket we purchased at the magic waterfall. We found amethyst, calcite, fluorite, rose quartz and citrine. We might make jewelry. We played all day then went to Pigeon Forge to watch fireworks. We came back and watched the Spears family launch their LED rockets. I tried some star photos and was too lazy to go get the tripod. I did get one pretty clear shot of the Big Dipper.
Two more days and Dan and I head to Myrtle Beach. I haven’t been there in probably 40 years. I’m sure it has changed quite a bit! Looking forward to week two.
It was a beautiful sightseeing afternoon. Of course Gatlinburg was a bit crowded as it is July 4th. Lunch at Boss Hogg’s BBQ satisfied our bellies and a little nap made everyone happy.
The afternoon art is one artist trading card and the first page in my new travel art journal. Enjoy!
We left Nashville June 30 headed to Wears Valley. It’s a family vacation in a beautiful home on 8 acres near Townsend Tennessee and Great Smokey Mountains. Dan and I will leave Wears Valley July 7 and drive to Myrtle Beach for a week. From there we are driving to Charleston for a few days. As any good artist will do, I packed more art supplies than clothes! It is my goal to make happy art. I plan to create at least one piece a day. Today I had my two fellow artists Deliah and Lanie. They started working on mini books. They are 6 and 7 years old. And I might add that they are both wonderful artists!
So here are today’s mini creations.

Below is a mini book 2 x 2 inches. Both pieces are mixed media.
